DAYTON - Some Miami Valley residents can call a universal number for health resources and other services the same way they can call 911 in emergencies.

The new number, 211, became effective Thursday in Montgomery, Butler, Greene and Preble counties, the Ohio Department of Aging announced. Other counties' resource and referral agencies are listed on Ohio's 211 Collaborative's Web site, www.211ohio.net.
