Divorce has always been expensive, emotionally and financially.

But it's the financial element that's getting attention recently. A national association of family law attorneys, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, says its members nationally saw a 37 percent drop in divorce cases in 2008 and a 57 percent drop in 2009.
