DAYTON -- It didn't figure that University of Dayton basketball player Marques Bennett would be a hero Saturday afternoon. Certainly not with 1:02 remaining and Xavier leading the Flyers, 55-53. Until that time Bennett had played 12 minutes and was scoreless.

Go figure. The junior from Indianapolis scored five points in the last 39 seconds and grabbed the most valuable player award as the Flyers wrestled a 59-55 verdict from the Musketeers in front of a noisy sellout crowd of 13,409 at UD Arena.
