BELLBROOK -- Gene Samborsky passed along the passion and mechanics of golf to countless people in his 35 years as club pro at Western Hills Country Club in Cincinnati. But he still chuckles over one student who was initially disinterested, his son Pete.

"When he was 12 or 13, I used to beg him to play," said Gene, who retired three years ago, but keeps a busy schedule teaching. "He said, 'Dad, golf is boring and it's too slow.' He couldn't get the ball off the ground."
