Summary
Most Americans know the song Yankee Doodle. Few, however, know that descendants of Benjamin Purdy Scott, who wrote Yankee Doodle, lived in Warren County.
Sylvia Ann Southwick Scott, Benjamin's wife, and their children joined the Shakers in New York state. They came to live in Union Village, near Lebanon. One of the sons, Vincent, renounced his Shaker membership. He married in 1849 and is buried in Lebanon Cemetery.See the full content of this document
