Editor's note: Tony Hall returned this week from Kenya, which was his last mission trip as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Food Agencies. Hall, a Democrat who represented the Dayton area in Congress for 24 years, was appointed to that post in August 2002 by President George W. Bush. He is resigning and will leave his Rome office April 3. Hall, 64, begins a book tour later that month.
