Long Alaskan Swim Makes Copper River Salmon Special

Several Dayton-area restaurants, grocery stores and seafood retailers are offering up the seasonal delicacies of Copper River Salmon and soft-shell crabs.

The first-of-the-season Copper River salmon arrived last week, and the opening prices -- the cost usually drops at least somewhat in subsequent weeks -- reached $36 a pound at Dorothy Lane Markets. Some restaurants and retailers that are planning dinners or specials this weekend and beyond couldn't predict the prices they'll charge, since their costs will depend on the amount of salmon caught.
