City Settles Suit On Racial Hiring Practices

DAYTON -- City of Dayton officials have reached a settlement in a lawsuit filed by the U.S. Justice Department, admitting that their police and firefighter hiring practices violate the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The Justice Department announced the settlement late Thursday afternoon, Feb. 26.

Suicide Probe Leads to Mason ; Investigators Raid Area Woman's Home in Assisted-Suicide Investigation.

A Mason home was searched Wednesday for evidence that might help authorities in their investigation of an alleged assisted suicide ring, Warren County Prosecutor Rachel Hutzel said Thursday, Feb. 26. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation contacted the prosecutor's office earlier this month for help in its investigation of Final Exit Network, Hutzel said.
