COLUMBUS -- The 127th Ohio General Assembly had a busy year even as Democrats and Republicans banged away at each other during the hotly contested presidential campaign. Here is a summary of some of the bills passed:

WASHINGTON -- A few numbers to keep in mind as Congress prepares to convene for the new year: 67, 4, 11, 0 and 18. 67 That's the cumulative years of experience of the state's three retiring members of Congress, not counting U.S. Rep. Steve Chabot, who lost his re-election.

Business Owner Fears Scam; Notion Correct

When Dirk Morgan received a cashier's check in the mail for a vehicle he was selling for more than $20,000, he rushed to the bank. Instead of being excited, though, he confirmed what he has suspected: The check was worthless. "All I wanted to do was sell our minivan," said Morgan, a Morrow resident and owner of Morgan's Canoe Livery. "We have two girls going to college and we don't need it anymore. I never thought this would happen. I'm glad we didn't get taken."

Widow Can't Believe Husband Drove 90 Mph in Deadly Crash ; She Mourns the Loss of 'Best Friend,' Who Never Refused Requests of Family and Friends.

DAYTON -- Shawn Roush's widow, Jamie Roush, said she can't understand how her husband could have been going 90 mph when his car flipped and killed all five occupants just after midnight New Year's Day. "My husband doesn't drive like that. He never has. Anybody who's ever been in a car with him knows that. He's never had a speeding ticket," Roush said Sunday, Jan. 4. "I just hope it was a (mechanical) malfunction."

Pre-K Teacher First to Connect with 4-Year-Old

The Baltimore couple who found a murder victim's 4-year-old son at a Madison County rest area said the boy was inside alone, looking out the window, even though other people were there. "It was very, very busy," said Judith McConnell on Sunday, Jan. 4, on NBC's "Today" Show. "I just happened to be the one that connected with (the boy)." McConnell is a pre-K teacher.

Man Allegedly Attacked by Girlfriend Is Recovering

MONROE -- Recovering at home on his 26th birthday Sunday night, Jan. 4, Brian Baker, said he was "doing pretty good." He said he does not know why his live-in girlfriend of three months, 28-year-old Heather Belcher, allegedly attacked him early Friday morning.
