TROY -- A Miami County Sheriff's Office school resource officer under investigation for alleged inappropriate behavior with a former Newton High School student resigned Thursday, April 24. A resignation letter from Deputy Bryce Adams was delivered to sheriff's Capt. Dave Duchak, Troy city lawyer Jose Lopez said.
XENIA -- The City Council voted 7-0 Thursday, April 24, to join a handful of Ohio cities that are not waiting for the state to increase regulations on payday lenders. Xenia's council moved to halt, for up to a year, the issuance of new zoning permits for cash advance and payday lending stores while city officials research how to strengthen regulations.

DAYTON -- Dayton schools' new construction manager believes paying union wages on school projects might attract more bidders, according to a letter to contractors. School board President Yvonne Isaacs said that argument could persuade the board to re-examine the idea of requiring union wages on its projects.

Dayton Attorney Farquhar Dies at 71 ; He Served As Legal Adviser for Centerville, Oakwood.
DAYTON -- Robert N. "Nick" Farquhar, a former Dayton Bar Association president and onetime legal adviser to the cities of Centerville and Oakwood, died Tuesday, April 22, after a battle with cancer. He was 71. He was a partner in the downtown Dayton law firm of Altick & Corwin Co., which said Thursday, April 24, that Mr. Farquhar had died.
