COLUMBUS -- For the past three months, a man who served time in prison for involuntary manslaughter has been driving Attorney General Marc Dann throughout the state and attending to his security details. Dann's office fired David L. Nelson, 57, last week when a national criminal background check turned up a misdemeanor involuntary manslaughter conviction from 1976 in Mercer County, Pa.

Riverside Says Income Tax Due From Wright-Pat Civilians ; After Years of Legal Challenges, City Collecting Tax From Civilian Workers, Civilian Residents

WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE -- Despite years of objections by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base leadership and defense contractors, Riverside has begun taxing employees in a part of the base the city says is within its jurisdiction. Riverside is still determining how many civilian employees -- and their employers -- at the base are subject to the tax, but has forecast revenues of $250,000 annually from the 1.5 percent levy on income.
