About 28,240 deer-vehicle collisions were reported in Ohio last year, a 3.3 percent increase from 2005. The human death toll from these encounters is up as well, from nine in 2005 to 12 last year. Injuries are down slightly, from 1,084 reported in 2005 to 1,024 a year ago.

DAYTON -- A Montgomery County grand jury indicted two men arrested in connection with the Aug. 21 double slaying at the Covault Market and Coin Laundry on Wayne Avenue. One of the suspects could be sentenced to death if convicted. "We reserve it for the most violent, vicious, senseless crimes," Montgomery County Prosecutor Mathias H. Heck Jr. said Thursday.
