Not Chart Toppers, but Still High Appeal

DAYTON -- The numbers certainly sound good. Dave Chappelle's Block Party, a concert movie featuring the Greene County-based comedian and actor, earned $6.5 million in its first weekend in theaters, according to an Associated Press report Monday. And the Dayton-based rock quintet Hawthorne Heights sold about 114,000 copies of its new album, If Only You Were Lonely, during its first week in stores, according to Billboard magazine's online edition Wednesday.

Mcgee Visitation Attracts Hundreds

TROTWOOD -- Frances Mc-Gee-Cromartie spent much of Wednesday greeting small groups of people as they came to St. Margaret's Episcopal Church to view the body of her father, former Dayton Mayor James H. McGee. By evening when a series of memorial observances was held, about 300 people were in the building.

A school hearing officer declined Wednesday to recommend expulsion for a 12-year-old Central Middle School student for violating the school district's zero-tolerance weapons policy by bringing a BB gun onto school grounds after classes let out for the day.
