Powers Convicted, Agrees to Retire

CINCINNATI -- Judge Dallas Powers, convicted Monday of seven misdemeanor criminal charges and sentenced to three years on probation, promised to retire and stay out of the courthouse in a plea bargain that ends his 27-year career in the Warren County Court. "It's a sad event that I have to sentence another judge. I've never had to do that before," said Judge Thomas Nurre, a retired judge appointed to hear the case in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.

DAYTON -- A man shooting at passers-by from the roof of a house at 3617-19 Wayne Ave. on Monday night wounded one person and exchanged gunfire with police before a police officer shot and killed him.
