County's Water Table a Costly Repair

DAYTON -- The Montgomery County Commission must spend at least $2 million to protect the lower levels of its downtown administration building from a rising groundwater table, caused by fewer businesses downtown taking water from the ground. After snow and heavy rains in January, groundwater flooded the Montgomery County Board of Elections offices, the auditorium and employee parking garage of the building at 451 W. Third St. causing $270,000 in damage.

Runaway Flatbed Derails, Injures Six

UNION TWP., Warren County --- Three people were sent to the hospital in two accidents caused by a runaway flatbed that derailed just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in southern Warren County. No people were on board.
