Residents Describe Flight From Inferno
DAYTON -- Feeling "completely lost" as she sat on the steps leading up to her scorched apartment building, Crystal Pierson waited for managers of the Rockwood to let her know when she could check the damage done to her fifth-floor apartment. An extension cord that caught on fire near some furniture is believed to be the cause of the fire that started in the 88-unit building at 515 W. Grand Ave. on Tuesday, Dayton Fire Marshal Sean Englert said Wednesday.

DAYTON -- The motorcycle sped south on Interstate 75 through Dayton so fast the driver didn't notice the cruiser parked on the side of the highway or the laser measuring his speed. "My first thought was 'I need to stop this guy.' To be on the interstate going 135 miles an hour is just not safe," said Trooper Bryan Cook of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Teen, Man Die in Darke Collision ; Car Slams Into Tractor Being Repaired On Road
RUSSIA -- Students and staff members at this Shelby County village's school grieved Wednesday over the loss of one of the school's 30 sophomores, killed in a wreck on Darke-Shelby County Line Road that also left a Mercer County man dead. Kyle Magoto, 16, of Russia and Gary T. Baumer, 50, of Celina were dead at the scene of the crash shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Darke County sheriff's office reported.
