You have seen his byline on the pages of this newspaper during the past 31 years as he has literally fought for justice and fairness. Now 62, Wes Hills, a respected writer and a good friend to those of us who have worked with him since 1973, is retiring to a cabin he built in the place he was born in northern Michigan, where he will enjoy a much deserved quieter life.

Summer Trots Out Fall Temperatures

On Monday, the thermometer at the Dayton International Airport could only muster a reading of 68 degrees. That set a record for being the lowest high temperature recorded on July 26 in Dayton. It is quite impressive when you realize that records go back more than 100 years, and we broke the 1958 record of 74. Tuesday's high temperature of 65 was surprisingly not a record (63 set in 1968), but still almost 20 degrees below average.
